Features:

Caveats:

Blender version 4.2 or higher recommended, may not work on earlier versions. 

Due to a blender bug, shaders used will only work in eevee renderer currently, not compatible with cycles. May be fixed at some point but that's up to the blender devs. They are aware of the issue. 

A recent update to eevee's lighting makes it impossible to avoid ambient occlusion on the fur, some workarounds are included in the how-to. This effect is minor other than in extreme close up.
